My early politically active years involved civil rights, the Peace and
Freedom Party, many East Palo Alto activities, from education to
renaming the city, and anti-Vietnam war activities. By 1969 and for the
next ten years, I was immersed in the Women’s Movement and organizing
workers at Stanford, with NLRB-recognized United Stanford Employees the
end result.
Organizing child care for workers and students at Stanford was a major
achievement leading to the child care center on campus today. In 1978 I
left USE at Stanford and embarked on a graphic arts career, using my new
skills to help various political organizations. In 1990 I changed
careers again to the horticultural field, and I continue a garden
maintenance business and participate in organizations related to
sustainable gardening. I am a participating member of Peninsula Peace
and Justice Center, Common Ground Organic Garden Supply and Education
Center, California Native Plant Society and Western Horticulture.
